01 / The problem

The problem

Shipping a service involves tests, a container image, and somewhere to run it. This project puts those pieces together around two small JSON endpoints.

02 / What was built

What was built

GitHub Actions runs Pytest and Bandit, then builds a Docker image and pushes it to ECR. Terraform describes a Fargate task and service, load balancer, and execution role.

03 / Engineering decisions

Engineering decisions

Tests before the build

Pytest and Bandit run before the image is built and pushed. The Git commit SHA becomes the image tag.

Runtime settings in Terraform

The task configuration sets CPU, memory, image, and execution role. The service connects to the load balancer and accepts VPC and subnet IDs as inputs.

Two endpoints to check

The root and health routes return JSON. Their tests sit alongside the infrastructure code, keeping the application small enough to read in one sitting.

04 / Scope

Scope

  • As a developer, I can run tests against the root and health endpoints.
  • As a maintainer, I can follow the workflow from code checks to a tagged container image.
  • As an engineer, I can inspect the task, service, and load-balancer configuration together.
